Envision. Collaborate. Launch.

Launch strives to identify novel and efficient solutions to both existing and future challenges and launch successful enterprises from these solutions.

EVENTS

Weekly Meetings

By collaborating with a group of Yale's brightest students, our goal is to cultivate our ideas with a problem-solving mindset and turn the best of these ideas into startups. We have a group of two to three dozen members with an incredible amalgam of skills and unique perspectives. Membership is selective, but we encourage students from all disciplines to apply for an interview.

"Launch Talks"

Interspersed between weekly club meetings, we hold a speaker series during which notable innovators and educators speak to the club about their experience in entrepreneurship.  Some notable speakers include Drew Ruben '11 (founder of Blue State Coffee),  Jonathan Feinstein (professor at SOM), and World Fellow Pablo Bereciartua.

Pitch Day

In December, every member in the club pitched a business proposal to the other Launch members and a panel of mentors from the Yale School of Management (SOM) and Center for Engineering, Innovation and Design (CEID). Based on a popular vote, we choose two ideas to pursue during the spring semester.

ACHIEVEMENTS

start-ups

Launch's startups have had tremendous success bringing products to market and raising nearly a million dollars of funding along the way.

FellowshiPs & Incubators

One of Launch's start-ups, EZ ICE, Inc., recently won the prestigious $15,000 YEI Summer Fellowship, raised $250k, and sold out of $120k of inventory in 19 days in its first year. It was the first company in Yale's history to win both the YEI Summer Fellowship and the CEID Summer Fellowship.

Another of Launch's start-ups, Verb Energy, sold out of 10,000 caffeinated energy bars in its first 30 days on college campuses. Verb has raised funding from prestigious VC firms and is poised to disrupt the energy market.

Hult Prize

Launch was accepted to present its social venture start-up, Bikes 'N Trikes, as one of 63 teams (out of 25,000 applicants) in San Francisco in March, 2016 for $1,000,000 at the Hult Prize.  The team previously earned first runner-up at Yale’s Hult Prize Competition.

Total Funding

To date, Launch's ventures have been awarded nearly $1MM in grants, prizes and investment.  If you wish to learn more about supporting Launch or investing in its individual ventures, please click here.
